GEM Registration

GEM :Government e-Marketplace is a one stop portal to facilitate online procurement of common use Goods & Services required by various Government Departments / Organizations / PSUs. GEM portal is a paperless; contactless and cashless online marketplace. The sole purpose of GEM is to enhance efficiency; transparency and speed in public procurement. In nut-shell, government departments/agencies, being a registered buyer, procure goods and services from the registered seller via the GEM portal.

Is GEM Portal mandatory?

The purchases through GeM by Government users have been authorised and made mandatory by Ministry of Finance by adding a new Rule No. 149 in the General Financial Rules, 2017.
